Allison Borstad

Allison Borstad is a Licensed Independent Social Worker with a clinical supervisor designation (LISW-S). She has a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Washington University in St. Louis and a Masters in Social Work, with a specialization in Individual, Family and Group therapy, from Saint Louis University. Allison has been providing psychotherapy to individuals, couples and families since 2014. Allison is a certified yoga teacher who has been teaching mindfulness, meditation, and yoga since 2016. Since 2019, Allison has been providing resources to working professionals experiencing stress and burnout via Self-Care Consulting, LLC.

Through her work experience (working with child survivors of abuse and their families, children with special needs/terminal illness and their caregivers, survivors of domestic violence, and high functioning individuals experiencing chronic stress and burnout), Allison has extensive experience treating clients with anxiety, depression, self-harm, PTSD/trauma, relationship and family issues, sexual identity issues, grief and loss, caregiver fatigue, spiritual issues, pain management, and professional burnout.

Allison is known for her compassionate, strengths-based approach, and ability to balance heavy topics with the right dose of hope and sense of humor. She utilizes an eclectic approach of person-centered therapy, trauma-focused CBT, DBT, ACT, and mindfulness techniques based in the yogic tradition. She believes a person’s struggles do not define them, and that symptom relief and healing is always possible. Above and beyond treating the current issue that is causing suffering, her goal is to help her clients transition from surviving to thriving and step into their highest purpose.
