Katherine Vanke

Katherine Vanke is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) at Grow Well Cleveland. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in 2018 from Kent State University and her Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, as well as a certificate in Chemical Dependency, from Cleveland State University in 2022. Katherine’s previous clinical experience includes working within a university counseling center, as well as with a Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Intensive Outpatient Group.

Katherine is interested in supporting young people in navigating stressful and challenging life changes. She believes that every individual is an expert on themselves, and wants the therapeutic process to be one that is collaborative and engaging. She strives in her practice to observe every client from a biopsychosocial perspective and develop treatments that honor the client’s multidimensional identities, tailoring these treatment approaches to reflect those complexities. Drawing on mindfulness-based techniques, including body scans and somatic awareness, Katherine helps clients build deeper self-awareness and connection to the present moment. Her practice is rooted in non-judgment, cultural humility, and empathy, creating a safe and affirming space for clients to explore their stories, build resilience, and move toward meaningful change.

Katherine's clinical approach incorporates Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and a Feminist Narrative framework. She is also a trained Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) therapist. As a lifelong learner, Katherine is excited to expand her skills and therapeutic expertise through continuing education and clinical research regarding other theoretical orientations. She is passionate about working with a variety of ages, specifically teens/adolescents, college students, and adults.

Katherine has a broad range of clinical interests, including anxiety disorders, mood disorders, trauma, mindfulness, body image concerns, relationship issues, women’s/AFAB issues, LGBTQIA2S+ issues, life transitions, and grief counseling.

Outside of her clinical work, Katherine enjoys traveling, listening to podcasts and audiobooks, and unwinding with video games. She finds meaningful balance through yoga, cooking creative plant-based meals, and spending quality time with her family, friends, and her beloved dog.
