Jess Jamison M.A., LPCC, Counselor Jess Jamison is a licensed professional clinical counselor, at Grow Well Cleveland, LLC. She has experience as an advocate, educator, consultant, and social activism. Jess earned her B.S. in Psychology, with a minor in education, in 2014 from The University of Mount Union. She went on to earn her Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2020 from Walsh University. As a clinician, Jess has worked in community mental health, specialized in diagnostic assessments, and worked in private practice. Jess has been a visiting guest lecturer for various university and community courses speaking on trauma informed practices, self-care, brain body connection, neurodiversity, and the LGBTQIA+ community. She also works with local non-profits for grief and traumatic loss, and participates in various volunteer and philanthropic events. As an educator, Jess has teaching experience in public education, higher education, and student affairs. Currently, Jess is also an Adjunct Professor at The University of Mount Union in the Psychology, Neuroscience, & Human Development Department. She oversees and advises on values and leadership with student organizations on campus. Areas of focus include working with adolescents and adults looking for support with trauma, identity exploration, LGBTQIA+ affirming care, alternative lifestyles, stress, life transitions, and grief or traumatic loss. Her counseling approach focuses on humanistic, person-centered, existential, dialectal based theories. Jess sees the therapeutic process as an opportunity to assist clients in self-discovery through the mindful expansion of thought. As a counselor Jess acts as a guide through the journey of becoming a self-directed agent of change, helping navigate the thoughts, feelings, actions, and different parts of “self” that arise along the way. Client input is essential and is encouraged to take an active role in co-creating the path to achieving goals. Jess will work to foster a safe, supportive environment where clients acquire the skills and tools necessary to challenge barriers, identify needs, set boundaries, communicate, and become empowered to align with their authentic self. Outside of work and educational pursuits, Jess enjoys working out, hanging with dogs, attending concerts, expanding her Nike collection, and adventuring to new places with good humans.
